Viva Los Bomberos!

If you have ever been to Tijuana Flats Mexican restaurant, then you will know that there are many crazy colors, paintings on the walls and you can take home a ceiling tile (for free) and paint it.  They are all different and very inventive.  Looking at all of the embellished ceiling tiles helps pass the time while you are waiting for your food.  My husband decided he was going to do one.  Below is his masterpiece:

The license plate reads E-343.  The 343 stands for the number of firefighters killed in the 9/11 attacks.  We brought it to the store today and the staff LUVED it!  They put it right up and even gave Mike a free lunch!

LUV this challenge blog I found...it is called Kraft It Up.  Each month's challenge has to be used with Kraft paper solid and/or Kraft patterned and some other requirement.  I have always been a fan of kraft paper and try and use it more than I do.  That is why I am so happy that I found this blog.  The DT makes some gorgeous stuff....thanks so much for looking! Here is my August challenge submission:

My son created this altered work of art when he was in 1st grade.  The school took selected work and displayed it in an actual art gallery!  He was so excited!

I hand painted the blue and purple onto the overlay to tie in some of the colors in the photos.

Found some old Chatterbox rub-ons and instantly new they would work with this LO.

Get Picky!

I found this fantastic blog last week and was instantly inspired by all of the beautiful work and awesome August challenge.  I have been wanting to scrap these pix of my son Mike Jr. for some time now and this sketch/challenge was a perfect fit!  So happy to have found the "Get Picky" blog...thanks for looking!

Well, it looks like the hurricane decided to change course and not hit us.  We are getting light winds and sporadic rain, but no hurricane.  If you are in the upper east coast, I hope you are prepared...I will pray it changes course.

So I was browsing the My Minds Eye blog and found their latest challenge:

When I saw this collection, I knew I had the perfect photo for it

The star is chipboard that I inked and backed with a Hambly Screen Print...luv the final result!

This whole color pallet and all of its lil'bits that go with it just came together beautifully. I luv how the buttons & chipboard represent flowers in bloom.

Yeah....I'm back

I really want to try and make this blog something. I have so much going on in my life...I think that my blog will be my little outlet.
